Sattva Yoga and Wellness Center's Mission Statement

"Sattva" is a state of balance, equanimity, and peace. Our mission is to encourage those who seek inner peace, joy and resilience with daily disciplines, yoga practice, and community support. The Sattva Yoga and Wellness Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working diligently to provide services to the Lynchburg Community.

Founder & Executive Director

Gary Sullivan

 Gary Sullivan is a longtime resident of Central Virginia and former manager at BWXT. Upon retirement, he became a yoga instructor and personal trainer working with adults, children, and veterans to improve physical and mental wellbeing. He is active in the fitness and wellness industry and currently teaches yoga classes for students and sporting teams at Randolph College as well as leads the Hatha Yoga and Veterans Program at the Sattva Yoga and Wellness Center.

The Leadership Team exists to help those who come into the Sattva Yoga & Wellness Center to achieve their mind, body, and soul goals through daily disciplines, yoga practice, and community support.

Megan is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor based in Lynchburg, VA, with a passion for guiding beginners through the foundational practice of Vinyasa Flow. Megan’s teaching is rooted in the belief that yoga is a powerful tool for cultivating presence and mindfulness in everyday life. Her classes focus on accessible movement, breathing techniques, and building awareness, making yoga approachable and enjoyable for all. Megan is excited to share her love for yoga and help others develop a deeper connection to their bodies and minds.

Jesse Teasley, Tai Chi & Martial Arts Instructor

 Tai Chi and Martial Arts - S.U.M School  and Lynchburg Area Youth Sports Initiative provider. 

 

A renowned master of Asian martial arts, Master Jesse Teasley has specialized in Tai Chi Chuan for forty years. Born and raised in New York, he has studied with some of the world’s  most famous Tai Chi masters. He has received numerous gold medal awards nationally and internationally and is one of the few Americans who has been honored as a Grand Master in China. He now has schools in New York and Virginia and leads classes, workshops and seminars worldwide. The  “S.U.M. School” to call attention to the Supreme Ultimate Method that is the core of the Tai Chi training. Join Master Jesse at the Sattva Center on Sundays at 2pm for his weekly Tai Chi class.

One Woman Central  Executive Summary   These initiatives will  expand the Center’s wellness offerings by integrating leadership development with holistic practices. The goal is to  foster a deeper connection between individual wellness and social impact while addressing community needs for  personal growth and transformative leadership.  

Vision and Mission Alignment  

 1. Holistic Wellness Coaching: Sessions that combine meditation, mindfulness, and goal-setting tailored to  community members and professionals.  

2. Compassionate Leadership Trainings: Monthly workshops focused on leadership practices that integrate  empathy, social responsibility, and conflict resolution skills.  3. Community-Centered Events: 


One Woman Central, host quarterly events, such as wellness retreats,  discussions on women’s leadership, and culturally enriching gatherings.

LuAnn is a native Texan who began writing poetry as a child and later earned an MFA. She started her career teaching college students which led naturally into counseling. She worked with children at Bridges Treatment Center using poetry and rhythmic techniques, and with young adults at Randolph College. In private practice since 2004, she incorporates energy modalities and has become an intuitive healer who assists clients to develop spiritual resources and get in touch with their inner guidance. She is experienced in working with the Dark Night of the Soul,
